“… restrictions on the scope of individual liberty.”

3 03 2009

Several internal Justice Department memos from the Bush administration have been released and we can see some of the ideas that they had for the New American Century, including restricting freedom of speech in order to “wage war successfully.”

I frequently hear people ponder what we’ll discover over the years about things that George W. Bush protected us from, i.e. thwarted terrorist attacks. It seems that we’re already discovering the harm that was almost done to the Constitution during his two terms.

Will The Truth Be Known?

9 01 2009

Congress has passed a measure that will reverse Executive Order 13233, signed into effect by George W. Bush, less than two months after the terrorist attacks on Sep. 11, 2001. This order would have allowed public access to presidential records 12 years after the end of that president’s term. Ronald Reagan’s records would have been made public in January 2001, but the administration stalled until the passing of Order #13233. This would have also made George H.W. Bush’s records available in 2005.

These are the records of what happened during the 80’s, i.e. Iran/Iraq war, Iran Contra Affair, US support of Mujahideen uprising, Gulf War… I wonder why George W. didn’t want us to know about those things.

“…because of me.”

I’m a little late on this, but current Lame Duck President Bush thinks that maybe, possibly, he might have had a little bit of something to do with people voting for Barack Obama. Genius, this man is.

Yes, I think that a handful of people may have voted for Obama because of how they felt about the job that the current president has done. Theoretically, that is possible.
